Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Loses Two Tough Ones

Hesperia – The Big Rapids Varsity Softball team lost a couple of tough ones to Hesperia High School on Friday.

In game 1, the Cardinals scored 1 in the first, 2 in the 5th, and 3 in the 7th but just couldn’t pull it out as they lost 7-6.

Kailey Hunt pitched 6 innings in the loss allowing 7 runs on 4 hits striking out 2 and walking 4.  Kayla Chamberlain went 2 for 3  scoring a run, with an RBI Homerun in the 7th inning.  Kelly Taylor went 2 for 4 scoring a run, with an RBI

In game 2, Big Rapids scored 3 in the first, 4 in the second, 2 in the fourth, 5 in the fifth, and 1 in the seventh and again fell one run short, losing 16-15.

Cara Jensen pitched 6 innings allowing 15 runs on 8 hits striking out 4 and walking 7.Kailey Hunt took the loss pitching in the bottom of the 7th, not recording an out allowing the game winning run on 1 hit.  Erin Carlson went 4 for 5, scoring 4 runs with 4 RBIs and 2 doubles Taylor Johnson went 2 for 3 scoring 2 runs with an RBI Homerun in the 2nd inning.

The Cardinals are back in action on Monday as they host Pine River at 4pm.
