Big Rapids – The Big Rapids Boys Basketball team quickly got over a sloppy start and used their quickness to rout the Farwell Eagles on Wednesday night. The Cardinals were able to cruise to a 76-35 victory to advance to the District Championship game where they will host Reed City on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Sloppy might even be an understatement for the Cardinals as they missed tight range buckets and made some uncharacteristic turnovers early in the game after being off for a week. The Cardinals then fell back into their comfort zone to push a halftime score to 42-23 and then outscored Farwell 21-5 in the third quarter to really put the game away for good.
Big Rapids was led in scoring by Quinn Tyson who had 21 points while Jake Daugherty added 12, Tyler Pellerito 10 and Nick Baldwin eight. The Cardinals were also extremely pesky with the press creating all sorts of problems for the Eagles all night led by Baldwin and Dario Williams.
Big Rapids will now face Reed City for the third time this season and the sixth time in the last two seasons. The teams are very comfortable with each other and it should set up to be a great High School basketball game. Game time is again 7:00 p.m. at Big Rapids High School.
