Multiple Teams · Cards Soar Past Wildcats


Big Rapids – There was no question right from the start last night as Big Rapids came out firing on all cylinders and routed Lakeview 69-34 to move to 19-0 on the season and finish there CSAA Championship season with a perfect 18-0 mark.

The Cardinals were able to jump out to a 14-0 start and 28-4 lead by the end of the first quarter with some hot shooting to match the strong defensive effort that has become a staple of the Cardinals.  Big Rapids pushed it’s lead to 40-17 at halftime. The second half was more of the same as the Cardinals were able to get everyone in the game and received scoring from eleven different players throughout the game.

Big Rapids was led in scoring by Quinn Tyson’s 21 points.  Nick Baldwin finished with 14 and Dario Williams added ten.  Jake Daugherty helped lead the charge on the glass as he pulled down six rebounds.

The Cardinals will now face there toughest test of the season as they travel to Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills on Tuesday before heading into district action.  The trip to Ottawa Hills will provide stiff competition as Big Rapids prepares for the post season.  The freshman game will start at 4:00 p.m. followed by the JV at 5:30 and Varsity starting at 7:00 p.m.  Get down and check out what should be a great night of High School basketball.
