Multiple Teams · Cardinals Get Tough Win Over Mohawks

Big Rapids – After trailing for much of the first half of play, the Lady Cardinal basketball team was able to take control of the game in the second half and hold off a pesky Mohawk team to move to 17-0 on the season.

The slow start by the Cardinals led to them trailing 21-20 going into halftime.  Their defensive pressure had been pretty good throughout the game but they just weren’t able to convert on the offensive end.  The Lady Cardinals then but together 18 and 19 point quarters to go onto the 57-47 victory.

Big Rapids was led by Kendra Enszer with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Taylor Leach who had 14 points and 10 rebounds.  The inside play of these two was the difference in the game.  The Cardinals also got good contributions from Kasey Woodworth with nine points and Shannon Thompson with seven points to go along with great play on the defensive end.

The Freshman Lady Cardinals also won an exciting overtime game over the Mohawks while the JV team lost a tough one.

Big Rapids is back in action on Friday night when they travel to Holton.  The JV game will start at 5:30 and the Varsity game will follow at 7:00 p.m.
