Morley – The Big Rapids Cardinal Boys Basketball team followed the same recipe that has led them to success all season long. They jumped out to a quick lead over Morley Stanwood, continued to frustrate their opponent all night long and then really put the game away in the end which led them to a 68-47 victory over the Mohawks.
the Cardinals jumped out to an 18-6 lead after the first quarter and continued to put the pressure on. The halftime score was 38-23 in favor of the Cardinals as the second quarter was a little more back and forth with both teams finding some rhythm at the offensive end. Big Rapids was able to use the third and fourth quarters to get everyone playing time while maintaining their comfortable lead throughout. They were able to get many players on the score sheet again which is something that they have been able to do for much of the season.
The Cardinals were paced by Quinn Tyson’s 23 points on the evening and got strong performances from Tyler Pellerito who had six points and 13 rebounds, Dario Williams with 13 points and Nick Baldwin with 10 points to go along with their strong defense.
The Cardinal Boys JV team was also victorious over the Mohawks by a 55-20 score. They were led by Jamison Green and Juwan Carlton who had 10 points each.
Big Rapids is back in action on Thursday when they host the Holton Red Devils with the JV game starting at 5:30 followed by the Varsity game at 7:00 p.m.
