Big Rapids – It was a slow and sloppy start for the Cardinals but they turned that around quickly and sprinted to a 72-33 victory over Chippewa Hills on Thursday night.
After the first quarter it was a 9-6 lead for Big Rapids but the second and third quarters they were able to flex their muscles and really put the hammer down on the Warrior attack. The Cardinals won the second quarter 17-4 and the third quarter 27-12 to put the game away at 53-22. Big Rapids continued their stong play into the fourth quarter though as they were able to get everyone in the game and eleven different players into the scoring column.
The Cardinals were led by Quinn Tyson’s 15 points and Nick Baldwin’s 13 points. Tyler Pellerito added 10 points and six rebounds and Jake Daugherty had nine points and nine rebounds.
The JV Cardinals also pulled out a thrilling victory over the Warriors as they held on for a 42-40 victory.
Big Rapids is back in action on Monday as they travel to Morley Stanwood. The JV game will start at 5:30 followed by the Varsity game at 7:00.
