Big Rapids – It was a great day for Cardinal Wrestling as they went 3-0 in the team portion of the invitational and then went on to take six first place finishes to repeat as champions of the Big Rapids Cardinal Wrestling Invitational.
In the team portion of the day, Big Rapids was able to score victories over Kingsley 60-18, Ogemaw Heights 45-31, and Shepherd 60-18.
The invitational then turned over to an individual tournament where the Cardinals took six first place finishes. Those champions included Nick Worden at 103, Nate Weckesser at 119, Alim Muhammad at 125, Sam Miller at 145, Kyle Carter at 170, and Justin McClelland at 189. The Cardinals also picked up two second place finishes by Jared Worden at 160 and Shalon McIntyre at 285.
This was a great way to start the season for the Cardinals by getting a lot of good competition and having a lot of success as well. Kyle Carter also reached a personal milestone during his second match on Saturday as Kyle earned his 100th win as a Cardinal Wrestler.
Big Rapids is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Reed City for a Quad match. Wrestling will start at 5:30 p.m.
