Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · Soccer Completes Record Setting Regular Season

Big Rapids – The Big Rapids Cardinal Soccer team beat Grant 3-1 on senior night, in their regular season finale to set a school record for victories.  The Cardinals had 15 seniors play in their last regular season soccer game and they went out in style.

After getting down 1-0 early the Cardinals continued to battle in the first half before senior Sam Miller to a pass from Scott Vander Sloot and shot it past the Tiger goal keeper to tie the score at 1-1.  That momentum would carry into the second half as 29 seconds in Vander Sloot scored an unassisted goal to give Big Rapids a 2-1 lead.  Vander Sloot would then put the finishing touches on Grant as he took a pass from Seth Stratz and fired into the net for a 3-1 lead and that is how the game would end.

The win gives the Cardinals a 15-4 regular season record heading into District action next week.  In the District, Big Rapids will host Forest Hills Northern on Monday at 6pm to start post season play.
