Multiple Teams · Football Beats Holton to Secure Playoff Spot

Holton – The Big Rapids Cardinal Football team beat the Holton Red Devils 43-0 Friday night to move to 6-1 on the season and secure themselves a spot in the post season.  It was more strong play in the running game and a tough defensive charge that led the way for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals scored 13 in the first quarter and 13 more in the second quarter for a 26-0 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.  Nick Baldwin led the rushing attack with 11carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns, Kyle Parsley chipped in 64 yards and a touchdown, and Robert Green added 65 more yards.  Ty Lattimore was 3 for 4 passing for 60 yards including a 22 yard touchdown pass to Mack Green.

Defensively the Cardinals were led by Jake Daugherty who had seven tackles and a fumble recovery that he returned 38 yards for a touchdown.  Justin McClelland chipped in eight tackles including three for a loss as well for the Cardinal defense.

Big Rapids now comes home for a huge CSAA contest with 6-1 Newaygo on Senior Night this Friday at Top Taggart Field.  Game time is 7pm.
