Big Rapids – The Big Rapids Cardinal Soccer team continues to improve every time on the field and that included a 3-0 win over Roscommon to capture the annual President’s Cup Trophy between the two schools.
The Cardinals go on the board first with 10 minutes left in the first half when Andrew Klarecki took a direct kick that found Jon Carney and he sent a pass to Ansel White who scored for a 1-0 lead. With just 31 seconds left in the first half, Big Rapids was able to go up 2-0 as Seth Stratz scored on a pass from Zachary Taylor. Shortly into the second half the Cardinals were able to put the final score on the board as Scott Vander Sloot continued his torrid pace with a nice goal.
The Cardinal defense played strong all day long as well keeping Roscommon off of the scoreboard.
Big Rapids is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Lakeview in CSAA action. The match will start at 4:30.
