Manistee – The offense came to life on Tuesday in Manistee and unfortunately for the Chippewas, they had to be the witness. The Cardinals fired early and often in route to a 6-1 win over Manistee. The Manistee goaltender also turned away 18 Cardinal shots in a busy day of action for him.
Scott Vander Sloot got Big Rapids on the board first as he score at 32:31 on a pass from Shawn Heroor. Sam Miller then chipped in the next two goals for Big Rapids, one on a breakaway to put the Cards up 3-0 at the half.
Manistee scored their only goal of the game early in the second half but that is all they would get. Vander Sloot scored the next two goals to give Big Rapids a 5-1 lead and himself a hat trick on the night.
The Cardinals look to continue their offensive power on Thursday evening as they take on Shelby. JV match starts at 4:30 with Varsity to follow at 6.
