Hesperia – The Cardinal Boys Cross Country team got off to a strong start in league action on Tuesday as they won the first CSAA Jamboree of the season. Big Rapids was able to take three of the top seven spots with Clark Ruiz getting the overall victory on the day with a time of 17:56. Brent Heberling was fifth overall at 19:10 and Ben Shaffer was seventh at 19:31. Hunter Jacobs and Ethan Goodman rounded out the scoring for Big Rapids with times of 20:51 and 21:17 respectively.
On the girls side it was Chippewa Hills winning and the Cardinals came in fifth for the opening jamboree. Big Rapids was paced by Chloe Kinnaly who finished fifth overall at 22:32. Kayla Chamberlain was 27th at 27:34, Katie King was 31st at 28:29 and Maddie Zadvinskis was 36th at 29:52.
The Cardinals are back in action on Friday as they travel to East Lansing for the Spartan Invite.
