Multiple Teams · Cardinal Volleyball Continues to Improve

Cadillac – Big Rapids varsity volleyball went 5-5 at the CadillacTournament Thursday. The Cardinals lost their first match against the host Vikings 15-25 and 5–25. Defensively the Cardinals were lead by Braeden Gosma’s 4 blocks and 93% passing. Kendra Enszer added 3 blocks. Offensively Kasey Woodworth handed out 11 assists with Enszer knocking down 4 kills and KatieHickson adding 3.

The Cardinals got in the win column again Bath in pool play.Big Rapids won 25-21, lost 16-25 and came back to win the tie breaker 15-13. Hickson and Enszer lead the Cardinal offensively with 3 kills each. Woodworth put up 6 assists and Mackenzie Potter had 4. Cara Jensen had 3 service aces.

The Cardinals finished second in the A pool by defeating Grand Rapids Creston 25-9, 25-18. Francesca Ravaldini had 5 service aces and Maddie Bucholz had 3. Jensen led the team with an 80% serve receive. Potter and Woodworth had 5 assists each.

In the Gold Division of bracket play the Cardinal lost to an undefeated Calumet team; 16-25, 25-22, 10-15. Woodworth had 12 assists. Enszer had 6 blocks. Ravaldini led the team in passing at 92%. Hickson had 6 kills with Enszer and Ravaldini putting down 4 each. Hickson and Jensen each had 4 digs.

The Cardinals are 11-8 on the season and will travel to ReedCity on Tuesday.
